School of Writing Internship

(COM 379, 12 credits)

The greatest way to learn how to write is to write. And write.  And write.
That’s why the School of Writing Internship is such a great opportunity.  During this three-month internship, you may choose to...

(1) Select one writing format covered in COM 378... narrative (true story); thematic (any kind of non-fiction genre, writing on a central theme or idea; or fiction.  You will complete the first draft of a book-length manuscript under the supervision of an editor.

Or...

(2) Serve as a writer for a magazine or a ministry, producing articles under the supervision of a professional editor.

You must finish the three-month internship within one year of the completion of your School of Writing.

“I’ve learned more about writing
during this school than in all
my creative writing classes
at the [other] university.
It’s been more practical…
and the speakers and staff
actually expect us to
be published."
