January 6 - March 31, 2011 Are you called to write? Do you wonder if you have what it takes to be published? Maybe you have a message or a story burning inside of you. Or perhaps you're going to need communication skills in your chosen profession. Our twelve-week School of Writing might be what you're looking for. The School of Writing is for beginning and intermediate writers. We will develop your innate writing talent. You will gain skills needed to succeed in either the marketplace or in ministry, through... * hands-on instruction * expert visiting professors
* in-class assignments * interactive critique groups You will learn how to... * organize your thoughts * write in several genres * apply powerful writing techniques * create a dramatic scene * conduct effective interviews * write compelling stories * get published If you are unable to attend the entire school, you may attend one or more weeks as a workshop. Our staff and guest teachers will challenge you to apply biblical principles in your writing. We want to help you fulfill God's unique call on your life. Our twelve-week program begins with the foundations for writing week, taught by Janice Rogers The School of Writing (COM 378) is 12 credit hours. This course is part of YWAM's global University of the Nations (UofN). The Discipleship Training School (IDS 701 & 702 or IDS 703 & 704 ) is a prerequisite to receiving college credit with UofN. However, anyone may attend any portion of the school. After completing the School of Writing, you may apply for a School of Writing Internship (UofN COM 379, 12 semester credits) where you apply what you have learned by working on a book project, articles, screenplay or other form of writing. Come to the School of Writing! We will help you go beyond ordinary writing workshops and conferences. We want you to begin writing with a mission to change the world. Facilities: Our courses are held at our YWAM campus in East Texas. The main campus building has wireless internet.
