Young YWAMer Dies of Cancer with "No Regrets"
MONTROSE, Colo. — Seth Cramer, age 25, of Montrose, Colo., previously of Helena, and Scottsville, Ky., died of cancer Friday evening, Oct. 28, 2005, at his home in Montrose.
Survivors who were honored to share Seth’s life include his wife of four-and-a-half years, Heather Cramer; a son, Tristen Cramer, age 3; a daughter, Erykah Nevaeh Cramer, age 1; his mother and father, Randy and Sherilyn Cramer; mother- and father-in-law, Glenda Allen and Steve Hughes and wife, Pam; two brothers, Caleb Cramer and Jacob Cramer and wife, Ashley; a niece, Nyobie Cramer; a grandmother, Joyce Graham; and a sister-in-law, Erica Mixon.
Seth died young, but he packed more life into 25 years than most people live in a lifetime. Since his birth in Galesburg, Ill., Seth had a passion for life. Nothing, absolutely nothing, was to be done mediocre. As a young boy he loved the outdoors.
He loved going with his dad trapping and camping. He loved telling stories and he told the best ones from a very young age. He was the older of his two brothers and completely loved being a brother.
If one was to do a poll of all the people who knew Seth, even from a distance, and asked them one word to describe Seth, I know that word would be passionate. This made Seth an absolutely dynamic husband, father, son, brother, friend, coworker and child of God.
Seth was one of those Christians who made other people want to know the Jesus he knew, and he lived what he believed. Seth believed that “Jesus is who he says he is in the Bible.” He lived by the word of the Lord. Believing this way took him on many, many journeys.
Upon completion of high school in Helena, Seth, on the word of the Lord, left home and attended a Discipleship Training School with Youth With A Mission in Cimarron, Colo. He lived there for three months and then went on outreach to Pakistan and Nepal for three months. He loved to travel! He loved culture. Seth returned to the Cimarron base, where he became a staff member for the next four months. He then left there to join a Youth With A Mission base in Sydney, Australia. He completed a school of intercession, worship, and spiritual warfare. Once again he fell in love with the place. He had a passion for the South Pacific. Regardless of this fiery passion, he was more passionate for the Lord and his leading and his next step was to return to Colorado.
This was when he joined Solid Rock Foundation Ministries, and met his future wife. Together they traveled to Kenya, Africa, on outreach. Two young people from two different worlds became best friends and fell in love. They committed to go on their journey through life together getting married at just 18 and 20. Like everything else in his life, God had him on a fast track. Overcoming huge obstacles, Seth and Heather went through about 20 years of marriage in the first year. From here the couple dreamed big dreams and followed the Lord with all their hearts. They had a vision to travel, teach and speak the name of Jesus, to see people believe and be made whole. God kept them in little ol’ Montrose so he could be great in them, not them trying to be great for him. Seth worked for Solid Rock Foundation Ministries doing mercy ministries for single moms, the elderly and widowed, traveling the summers on outreach to Italy and New Zealand. Seth and Heather had two children during this time — they were his life. Seth had more fun than most people and made every story one where you felt as though you were there. He traveled to 10 different nations, some just for vacation. He loved the mountains and he loved the beach. As stated before, Seth was passionate about everything.
To know Seth was an honor and a privilege. Two weeks before his death, he was asked, “What would you do differently in life?” His response was, “Nothing, I really lived life to the fullest, maybe I would own a motorcycle or a jeep but that’s trivial. I have no regrets.” Seth died with all his relationships in order, but even more, loving Jesus and believing Him right through the end.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the San Juan Ranch in Ridgway, Colo.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice Palliative Care of Western Colorado, in memory of Seth Cramer, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402; or Solid Rock Foundation Ministries, in memory of Seth Cramer, 1120 N. Townsend Ave., Montrose, CO 81401.
